Online shopping giant Snapdeal has taken a new step in social responsibility by getting in talks with the Himachal Pradesh government to establish a way to support local artists. Artisans in Dharamshala have rejoiced as a special online retail store is being set up for them by the thriving company. Read on to know more about Snapdeal’s initiatives.

The New SEZ in Dharamshala: In an effort to promote local handicrafts, the company collaborated with the Himachal Pradesh government to set up an SEZ or 'special e-commerce zone' in Dharamshala. The intent is to facilitate the sale of charming handicrafts and traditional crafts fashioned by the locals. The attempt to revive the dying skill and give an impetus to underprivileged artists has been well received.

The company further intends to assist local craftsmen and manufacturers in assuming the role of sellers at the online mega bazaar so that they can sell their crafts all over the country. This will introduce new employment opportunities to skilled craftsmen, furthering their talent.
